Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB)

XIMB is the flagship school of Xavier University.

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) owes its origin to a “social contract” between the Government of Odisha and the Odisha Jesuit Society in 1987. It is acknowledged internationally as a world-class business school, which provides quality management education and develops future-ready managers with strong ethics and values.

Xavier School of Human Resource Management (XAHR)

The Xavier School of Human Resource Management (XAHR) owes its origin to XIMB’s HR specialization program. It continues the legacy of shaping HR professionals since 1987. These students are grounded in the vision and values of excellence and ethics set by the Xavier University.



At Xavier School of Human Resource Management, the focus is on grooming highly effective and competent human resource professionals with a holistic understanding of business, society and government. We empower our students with the knowledge, skills, and long-term vision that lead to innovation, service to society and growth. We groom visionary, competent, committed, compassionate and value-based business leaders.

Xavier School of Rural Management (XSRM)

The School focuses on nurturing reflective professionals and enlightened knowledge leaders who would enable the effective management of rural institutions, businesses, development programs and civil society organizations, engaged in progressive economic development and social transformation work.

What makes the School’s programs truly unique are its pedagogical components that emphasize experiential learning through extensive fieldwork through 


  • The RLLE Rural Living and Learning Experience segment involves living in a village for forty five days; 
  • Summer internship opportunities with reputed organizations working in the rural management domain;
  • Seminar and Colloquium featuring eminent speakers from the field to share and deliberate on various aspects of development, contemporary issues and future directions; 
  • A one-of-its kind Development Ethics Seminar series where students are sensitized to the ethical responsibilities of a development practitioner, the dilemmas which they are likely to confront, and ways to make principled choices and decisions.
  • In addition Immersion Courses are offered to students to provide exposure and understanding of topics which are still emergent and likely to become key to the transformations happening in the field of rural development


The school runs the flagship two year full time Post Graduate Program in Rural Management (MBA-RM); earlier known as PGDRM (of XIMB). In addition, the school offers PhD in Rural

Management and one year Executive Management (Ex-MBA-RM) Program for working professionals.

Xavier School of Human Settlements (XAHS)

The Xavier School of Human Settlements (XAHS) develops and transfers knowledge about building sustainable, liveable and inclusive cities and communities. It also offers programs to develop planning and management expertise for public systems. Its innovative and unique programs are designed to create the professionals needed for sustainable urban and regional development in rapidly transforming geographies. At the core of its graduate degree and other programs are modules for hands-on learning, including in live projects with faculty and organizations engaged in policy development and impact evaluation, technical support and advisory with government, corporate and civil society organizations. 

XAHS post-graduate Programs in Urban Management and Governance are designed for planners, architects, engineers, geographers, economists and others to prepare for a career in developing and managing sustainable cities, towns and other urbanising places.

Xavier School of Sustainabilty (XSOS)

Business corporations, UN agencies, government departments, civil society and other development actors are seeking a different cadre of human resources who can align profit with ecological and social mission.


The Xavier School of Sustainability (XSOS) is established in Xavier University to fulfil the university’s social and environmental mission of bringing about transformation in our society. The School, being the first of its kind in India, aims to create and nurture the next generation of managers and leaders who can anchor and accelerate sustainability as a strategy for economic growth and sustainable human development.

Xavier School of Communications (XCOMM)

With its roots dating back to history, ‘Brand Xavier’ has grown tremendously.  As a place of higher learning, it has always stood to live up to its motto of ‘Inspiring Futures’. Being  one of the   premiere media schools, the Xavier School of  Communications is a pioneer in the field of interactive media education, and is considered the most rigorous media program in the country. Offering a variety of media courses, XCOMM caters to the dynamic industry with the students who learn by doing without compromising on values and ethics – the ‘Magis’ way.

Xavier School of Commerce (XSOC)

Xavier School of Commerce, one of the constituents of Xavier University was founded in 2014 to cater to the ever-increasing demand for commerce education in the country. While setting up the school the objective was not to be just another commerce school in the crowd but to be a center of excellence in the field of commerce education. Since the beginning, the school’s endeavor has been to contribute to the society and meet the demands of the times by creating graduates who can meet the challenges of tomorrow and take leadership positions in a complex environment.

Xavier School of Economics (XSE)

Xavier School of Economics (XSE) aims to provide students with broad-based knowledge, advanced technical, communication and entrepreneurship skills. 


Graduates here obtain skills which give them opportunity to explore and apply competency in the industry by integrating in-depth research, conceptual development, strategic thinking and problem solving. Through carefully planned structure of learning, the graduates will equip themselves with multi-disciplinary skills and practices.

Xavier Law School (XLS)

Xavier Law School (XLS), located in the pristine green of sub-urban Bhubaneswar, is an initiative to educate, train and develop preciously talented young persons to socially responsible law professionals. XLS imbibes academic excellence through a commitment to rigorous teaching, scholarly research and innovative application of knowledge. As a part of the innovation, XLS is equipped with digitally enabled modern Moot Court Hall, best of the class e-resources through e-Pathsala initiative and a collection of legal classics/books/journals to facilitate capacity building among students.

Xavier School of Computer Science and Engineering (XCSE)

The Xavier School of Computer Science & Engineering (XCSE) is a unique school that leverages the high-quality programs of Xavier University and emphasizes sound computer science fundamentals, coding, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. It currently offers B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering and is starting M. Tech in Data Science & Analytics, and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering in 2019. Its current faculty mostly has Ph.D. and/or postdoctoral experience from IITs/IISc or abroad. The founding Dean Prof. Priyadarsan Patra has a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and 20+ years of leadership experience at Intel (USA). It is mentored by Prof. Chitta Baral from Arizona State University, Prof. Prasant Mohapatra from the University of California Davis and Dr. Ashutosh Dutta of Johns Hopkins University.

Xavier School of Government and Public Affairs (SGPA)

The School of Government and Public Affairs aims to build leadership potential of the state and help create a huge network of capacity-built future change agents in governance, public affairs and policy. It also aims to produce, develop and nurture future leadership of Odisha with special attention to youth, women, tribal and the disadvantaged.

XAVIER-EMLYON Business School (XEBS)

Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XUB), India, and emlyon business school, France, have jointly created this unique global business school, whose aim is to offer entrepreneurial opportunities and a unique experience of global education in India.
